What is wi-fi?

Wi-Fi (or Wifi) is technology that allows electronic devices to connect to a wireless network. (Source)

Cherokee Communications can help you set up a wireless network. It works like this: We connect your home or business to the Internet, which you access through a router. You may connect Internet-ready devices directly to the router with an ethernet (also called "Cat-5") cable, or, if you have a Wi-Fi router, you may connect wirelessly to the router.

To connect your devices to your Wi-Fi router, you'll first need to plug in and power on your wifi router. Once it's on and connected to the Internet, you'll need to set up a password which all devices will use to connect to the Wi-Fi network. Once you've connected a device by entering the password, the device should remember that and be able to easily re-connect next time it's powered on and within range. If you ever reset your Wi-Fi modem or password, you'll need to update the password on each device that connects to the Wi-Fi network.

KEEP YOUR WI-FI NETWORK SECURE WITH A STRONG PASSWORD. Use a unique password with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Never use personal information, like your birthday or street address, as your password.

Having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi?

If you're having trouble connecting to your Wi-Fi router, try powering it off, wait 30 seconds, and then power it back on. If that doesn't help, try browsing our other help articles or calling our support team at 1-844-4CHEROKEE.
